In May 2021, our client was involved in a T-bone collision caused by Defendant Driver who was working at the time of the occurrence and was driving a commercial vehicle owned and insured by his employe ... r. Our client did not have a stop sign. Defendant Driver approached the stop sign and, without yielding the right of way, continued traveling through the intersection and caused a T-bone collision. At the scene, Defendant Driver admitted to drinking two beers before the collision. Defendant Driver received a citation for violation of 625 ILCS 5/11-904, failure to yield the right of way. Our client suffered a right-foot crush injury, consisting of extensive fractures of the cuboid, navicular, talar, and calcaneus bones. These fractures caused instability of the right foot requiring initial external fixation and eventual internal fixation. In addition, he sustained associated nerve injuries in his right foot as well. The case settled at mediation for $2,015,000.00.
