Abigail Mary Becker

Abby is an attorney practicing family law and specializes in advocating for individuals going through divorces, custody matters, domestic abuse, and in guardianships.

Abby feels fortunate to be working with the team at FLS Iowa. She believes that focusing on the unique circumstances of each case and her clients’ stories are the best way to resolve these disputes and achieve the best outcome for her clients. When Abby is working with clients, she blends empathy and creativity to solve complex case issues, with her client’s best interest in mind.

In December 2021, Abby graduated from Drake Law School with honors in Des Moines, with a certificate in Constitutional Law and Civil Rights. In February 2022, she took the Iowa Bar Exam and was admitted to practice in April of the same year. During her time in law school, Abby was actively involved on the executive boards of Drake Law Women, Drake Law Democrats, Moot Court Board, and the Public Interest Law Association, in addition to being a member of the Student Bar Association, Moot Court, Delta Theta Phi, the Drake Law Mediation team, and the Iowa Inns of Mediation. In her final semester as a Drake law school student, Abby practiced law as a student attorney at the Drake Legal Clinic, where she handled family law cases ranging from custody disputes and divorces to guardianships. Additionally, Abby clerked for a general practice law firm in Des Moines and an employment law firm in Cedar Rapids.

From a young age, Abby knew she wanted to fight for individuals who may be going through some of the most challenging times in their lives. To start her law career, Abby first attended college at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, where she was pre-law. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Iowa in May 2018.

When she is not in the office, Abby enjoys spending time with her family, checking out Des Moines, traveling with friends, attending live music events, listening to music and podcasts, and going on walks with her dog, Phoebe.
