The Veteran then appealed the denial of his claim to the Board of Veterans Appeals ("Board"). In January 2020, the Board denied his appeal. Heidi successfully appealed to the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims ("CAVC") alleging the Board erred in its duty to assist in obtaining all private treatment records of the Veteran and in failing to obtain an adequate examination. Due to these rulings, the Court vacated the Board's decision and remanded the case back to the Board with an order requiring them to obtain all private medical records of the Veteran and schedule him for a thorough examination.
