Whistleblower wins $500K, says he reported things Bevin administration didn't want to hear
Jul 25, 2019OUTCOME: I second chaired successful outcome for our client on his whistleblower claim against the Kentucky Labor Cabinet.
A Franklin County jury on Thursday awarded $500,000 in damages to a former Labor Cabinet employee who claimed he was fired in 2017 for reporting problems with an apprenticeship program promoted by Gov. ... Matt Bevin. The jury awarded Michael Donta $133,500 for lost wages plus $366,500 in punitive damages in the whistleblower case. "I feel vindicated. I told them all along they weren't doing things properly. It was a disservice to the people who were getting these apprenticeship certificates," Donta said after a four-day trial. https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/politics/2019/07/25/franklin-county-jury-awards-labor-cabinet-whistleblower-500-000/1827923001/
