I filed a mot ... ion for a reduction in sentenced based on the retroactive changes to the penalty provisions of 21 U.S.C. § 841 as related to crack cocaine ushered in by the 2018 First Step Act. I convinced the court that all six life sentences were "covered" offenses and that my client's track record of rehabilitation during his decades in prison warranted reducing his sentence. He was released two weeks after the decision was rendered.
