Peanut Allergy Settlement

Plaintiff signed up with a meal preparation company in South Florida. Plaintiff informed company representatives that he had a severe nut allergy which made him extremely allergic to peanuts. He asked ... the company to make sure that none of his prepared meals had peanuts as an ingredient. Representatives of the company assured him that he would never receive a meal with peanuts. Due to the negligence of the company one of the meals plaintiff received had peanuts as a main ingredient. When plaintiff opened the meal container, there were no visible signs of peanuts and plaintiff proceeded to take a couple of bites of the meal. On his second bite, plaintiff realized something was wrong. His throat and tongue swelled up immediately, and he fell to the ground in convulsions struggling to breathe. He was rushed immediately to a nearby hospital and administered medication which saved his life. Unable to speak and having difficulty breathing, he was diagnosed with anaphylaxis due to an allergic reaction to the peanuts in his meal. Plaintiff hired QBM Legal Law Offices to handle his case against the company whose negligence caused him harm. Qasim B. Mustasam, Esq. took on the personal injury case and went to bat for his client. In addition to the allergic reaction, the client suffered from asthma which was exacerbated by the company’s negligence. The client had to be monitored for his anaphylaxis and suffered from a number of other issues as a result. Mr. Mustasam negotiated a settlement with the company, and his client received a $35,000 settlement for his injuries.
