Disability Discrimination & Unpaid Wages - Jury Verdict with Punitive Damages

Represented a resident manager of a downtown Los Angeles building in a jury trial in Los Angeles County Superior Court (Stanley Mosk Courthouse). The jury found that our client was fired because of her ... disability, that the employer failed to engage in the interactive process, failed to provide reasonable accommodation, failed to take reasonable steps to prevent discrimination, and wrongfully discharged her in violation of public policy. The jury also awarded unpaid overtime, unpaid minimum wages, liquidated damages, waiting-time and wage-statement penalties, and unreimbursed business expenses, and assessed punitive damages against all four defendants, including both company owners personally under Labor Code section 558.1. The jury did not find for the plaintiff on her retaliation, meal period, or rest period claims. Tried with co-counsel Williams & Seemen, APLC.
