THREAT TO THROW, PROJECT, PLACE, OR DISCHARGE A DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE
Aug 11, 2022OUTCOME: Not Guilty
The Defendant, a military veteran with no prior history, found themselves charged with “Threat to Throw, Project, Place, or Discharge a Destructive Device”, facing a maximum of 15 years in prison. The ... charges stemmed from an incident where law enforcement responded to a bomb threat at a church. Members of the church alleged the Defendant was banging on the church doors, accompanied by threats that the Defendant was going to “blow up the church.” During a 3-day trial, Attorney Kristin Cronk effectively argued that none of the state's witnesses felt threatened by the Defendant, and there was no belief that the Defendant intended bodily harm or property damage at the time of the incident. The jury returned and found the Defendant not guilty.
