Amy Jean Skogerson

Amy Skogerson is a collaborative attorney, mediator and peacemaker in central Iowa.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management from Iowa State University in 1999 before obtaining her Juris Doctor degree from Creighton University School of Law in 2002.

In 2004, Amy became a partner at Jungmann & Skogerson, P.C., in Greenfield, Iowa.  She subsequently opened her own solo firm, Skogerson Law, P.C., in Van Meter, Iowa in 2010.  In 2017, Amy partnered with attorney Andrea McGinn to create "The Law Shop by Skogerson McGinn LLC," a boutique firm specializing in limited scope representation ranging from a variety of a la carte family law services to mediation and representation in collaborative divorce. Amy has also worked as Adjunct Professor of Family Law at Drake University Law School.

Amy is an active member and Past Chair of the Iowa State Bar Association (ISBA) Family & Juvenile Law Section.  She has also served in various other professional organizations, including as Co-Chair of the ISBA Rural Practice Committee; State Judicial Nominating Commissioner; Iowa Supreme Court Grievance Commissioner; Iowa Association for Justice Board of Governors; committee chair for the Central Iowa Academy of Collaborative Professionals; and member of the Iowa Domestic Abuse Death Review Team.

Amy and her husband Erik live in Amy’s hometown of Adel.  They have three adult daughters and one grandchild.  Outside her work with clients and students, Amy enjoys spending time with family and friends, serving as President of the Des Moines YMCA Camp Board of Managers and traveling whenever and wherever possible.
