Thomas Paul Tully

TULLY LAW OFFICE, P.C., was established in Polk City in March of 2012, by Thomas (Tom) P. Tully.  In 2013, the office was relocated to 3116 Ingersoll Ave in Des Moines, IA. Tom has spent the past 30 years developing his career in the legal industry.  He has held numerous roles as owner, manager, and consultant throughout his career in areas of business, sales, and law.  However, three roles have remained constant in all his positions: leader, motivator, and facilitator of change.

Tom’s dynamic personality, intuitive communication skills, and a creative intellect have enabled him to be successful in a variety of endeavors.  Tom has owned or managed several retail businesses, a fine dining restaurant, appeared in a few Hollywood motion pictures and a TV movie, and he served as a political appointee in State government as the assistant Secretary of State of Iowa.  Most recently, Tom operated a successful legal consulting business assisting some of the most prominent trial attorneys in Iowa and surrounding States.  Particularly, Tom had the privilege of working on trial preparation with renowned civil rights attorney, Mr. Gerry Spence of Wyoming.

Tom has a broad range of interests, which he developed at an early age by growing up in the political environment of Washington DC and by spending every weekend at the Smithsonian Institution.  As an older child, he and his family returned to the Tully “home base” in Dubuque, Iowa.  Tom’s family has a deep background in business, art, politics and public service. His father, Thomas A. Tully, was his role model and was a successful public servant and businessperson in the Dubuque area.  Tom’s mother, Joan DuBay-Tully, is a gifted professional artist in Dubuque.  Tom looks to combine his unique experiences and his unending passion for learning, helping others, and technology with his entrepreneurial, creative, and cross-cultural skills to enhance his effectiveness as an exceptional attorney.

Tom’s educational background began with Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering at Iowa State University.  Later in life, he continued on to William Penn University and earned a degree in Business Administration.  He then went on to the Drake University Law School where he received a Juris Doctorate degree.  Tom has lived and worked in an array of locations from Washington DC, Boston, Minneapolis, to several areas in Iowa, finally making the Des Moines/Polk City area his home.  Tom enjoys politics, comedy clubs, golf, scuba, cooking, electronics and traveling to name a few.  Currently Tom makes his home in Polk City, with his wife, Dr. JoAnn Tully, and her two teenaged children, Hunter and Abbey.
