High Speed Rekless Driving Reduced
Jul 27, 2023OUTCOME: The charge was reduced to an Improper Driving (a traffic infraction) and a fine of $500 was imposed.
My client was pulled over for traveling 101 mph in a 70 mph zone and charged with Reckless Driving. At this speed, my client was looking at the very real possibility of an active jail sentence, a licen ... se suspension and a conviction of a class 1 misdemeanor. I advised my client to mitigate the case by completing community service, a driver improvement program, and having his speedometer calibrated. On the trial date I spoke on my client's behalf and was able to convince the judge to not only not put my client in jail or suspended his license, but to also reduce the charge to a traffic infraction so he could avoid the misdemeanor.
