Intertek, one of the world's largest product safety testing companies, was paid, based on their claimed expertise, to safety test Brand Marketing Group's Thermablaster heaters. Intertek tested the hea ... ters to the wrong safety standard but certified that the heaters were safe anyway. This led the Brand company to sell heaters to its biggest customer that did not meet the safety standard. Brand was sued by its customer for selling potentially dangerous heaters that did not comply with the safety standard. Brand sustained a damaging judgment as a result. I tried this case to verdict in federal court and obtained all of Brand's compensatory damages including the judgment caused by Intertek (more than $1 million). Additionally, the jury was so outraged by the recklessness of Intertek revealed through our lawsuit, that they entered a verdict for punitive damages in the amount of $5 million
