As lead trial attorney, I proudly represented Ezequiel Hernandez, a young man who suffered a life-altering traumatic brain injury at age 13 in a devastating hit-and-run accident on February 29, 2016. A ... fter a swift two-day trial, our jury awarded $56 million to compensate for his severe injuries, including past and future physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, physical impairment, and future medical expenses, along with exemplary damages for the gross negligence of defendant John Loftin, III. I personally delivered the opening statement, closing argument, and examined two critical witnesses, including the heartfelt testimony of Ezequiel’s mother, Aracely Castillo. My co-counsel James conducted voir dire and examined one witness, while Matt examined another witness and presented a compelling closing rebuttal. Our team’s strategic preparation and passionate advocacy secured justice for an incredible young man facing lifelong challenges due to the defendants’ negligence.
