My client was sued by a lender who was using predatory tactics governed by the Fair Debt Collection Act and the Texas Finance Code. We counterclaimed for violations under both and, not only was my clie ... nt’s debt fully extinguished, he was awarded approximately 5 times the amount for which he was originally sued. I had a very happy client at the end. After all, he just wanted the case to end and did not expect that he would win a monetary judgment.
