Michael Andrew Stroup

Mike Stroup is an attorney at Lachman King focused on real estate transactions and litigation. Mr. Stroup represents individuals and businesses in west Michigan and beyond in achieving their real estate goals. Prior to Joining Lachman King, Mr. Stroup practiced at a well-respected Grand Rapids law firm where he advised closely held business clients in a variety of industries on transactional matters.

Mr. Stroup volunteers as a pro bono attorney for Legal Aid of Western Michigan's Eviction Diversion Program. He is also an alumni of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce's Emerging Leaders Series.

Mike Stroup’s representative experience includes the following:

• Represent landlords in preparing commercial net and gross leases for local, regional, and national tenants
• Provide title review and closing representation for commercial, industrial, and residential real estate purchases and sales
• Advise real estate developers on acquisition and development of land
• Serve as outside counsel to closely held construction, real estate, service industry, and manufacturing clients from start up to wind down
• Assist clients in combining, splitting, and adjusting boundaries of property parcels
• Assist construction clients in lien perfection and foreclosure actions
• Prepare easement creation and termination documents for individual and business clients
• Advise on succession planning and prepare buy-sell agreements for closely held business clients
• Appeal property tax assessment for commercial hotel property before the Michigan Tax Tribunal
• Represent property owners in defense of condemnation by national electric transmission company
• Advise U.S. subsidiary of Latin American international auto parts manufacturer on corporate domestication and software agreements
• Represent national meat, produce, and grocery broker on the acquisition of several new product lines
• Structure complex loan agreements including cross-collateralized security interests
• Prepare 501(C)(3) tax exempt status applications on behalf of local not-for-profit entities
• Advise waste management service provider through women-owned business certification process
• Host and attend annual meetings of directors and shareholders for corporate clients
