Manda Jo Mitteer

Manda is a Muskegon County native. She grew up in Ravenna and Egelston Township where she graduated valedictorian from Oakridge High School. Manda went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice from Grand Valley State University in 1996. After graduation, she began working for the Michigan Department of Human Services. She initially worked as a Family Independence Specialist before transferring within the Department to work as a Children’s Services worker. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from Grand Valley State University while working as a Foster Care Worker and Children’s Protective Services worker. After eight years as a civil servant for the State of Michigan, Manda left her job to attend law school full time in 2005. She went on to earn a Juris Doctor degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2008 and was admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan that same year. While in law school, Manda interned for a local law firm, Houghtaling, Wasiura, and Catalino, PLC, and also interned with the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office for one summer. Shortly after receiving her law license, Manda opened her own law practice and contracted with Muskegon County as a Public Defender in the 60th District Court. She continues to manage her law practice primarily representing clients in criminal and family law matters.

Manda is currently a member of the State Bar of Michigan. She has actively shown her community support by volunteering her time to numerous causes and non-profit agencies over the years including Goodwill Good Guides Program, Project Literacy, Habitat for Humanity, and the American Red Cross.

Manda lives in Fruitport Township with her husband and son. When she is not working, Manda enjoys spending time with her family as well as hunting and fishing.
