Showing 1 - 1 of 1 review | Domestic Violence

Posted by Heather | December 06, 2021 | Hired Attorney | Domestic Violence

Trevor is STELLAR! Especially if you're a trauma survivor. He's the attorney you want fighting for you!

Trevor took my case on relatively short notice and he was AMAZING. High, high quality. I hired him for a complex & incredibly high stress issue to do with having fled domestic violence from out of state while working to keep myself & my young children safe. I was facing a terrifying threat to my safe...ty and the details were extremely sensitive, private & vulnerable. Trevor was unfailingly calm, knowledgeable, respectful, and an invested listener. When I broke down & cried at times during our first meeting, he did not try to rush me or cut me off like others do & have when they're uncomfortable in the presence of emotion over extremely gnarly things. He took it all in patiently & was fully present. While he was clearly confident, I could tell he was intentional to not make promises or assurances he could not guarantee, but I also appreciated that he sought to comfort and encourage me as much as he could in professional and appropriate ways. I felt safe, heard, and invested in. He was always willing & able to give reassurances and unpack accessible explanations of things I was confused about. For awhile I had to pay two lawyers in two different states (one of them Trevor, the other in the state I left), and Trevor graciously made himself available to talk to my other lawyer so they could thoroughly coordinate and give me the best composite help they could for my situation. On the day of the hearing that I hired Trevor for, he made special efforts to prep & professionally comfort me for what I'd likely be experiencing in the courtroom. He really took it to heart that I have a history of trauma with the justice system and he was the absolute heartbeat of the first positive experience in a courtroom I've ever had in my life. He did an amazing job at unifying personal attentiveness with professional boundaries that helped me feel very safe even though I was still intensely nervous (which is an understatement). My abuser and his lawyer were on Zoom whereas Trevor and I happened to be in the courtroom, and Trevor was the kind of lawyer you see in movies & TV shows - in the best sense. He's the kind of lawyer you doubt exists in real life outside of fiction, but he's the real thing. He tastefully & subtly interacted with my abuser's lawyer on Zoom to unsettle him and cheer me up all at the same time. He prepared me for all possibilities in the courtroom, but the hearing was over quite quickly and we won! I have never had an experience like this in my life! It was a major healing landmark, and I cannot thank or recommend Trevor enough to anyone going through an unspeakably difficult & overwhelming time relating to areas of his expertise. He was an absolute lifesaver, personable & kind. He knew right when to use strong language about what I confided in him (to affirm what I'd gone through) and right when to weave in a gentle & personable sense of humor. I look forward to working with him again (which my situation will necessitate), and I want to give my highest recommendation to other potential clients who could benefit from his services - especially trauma survivors. Trevor is the attorney you want. I can't imagine how you could be disappointed. I've experienced so much corruption in the justice system, and Trevor was a formatively outstanding experience in my hope being restored for justice actually being possible.

Relationship: Co-worker

"Before becoming my co-worker, Trevor worked in the Prosecutor's Office in Berrien County. Trevor's abilities in the courtroom left me beyond impressed. Not many attorneys know the law as well as Trevor. Even fewer attorneys know the law, and are able to navigate and control a courtroom. When Trevor joined our firm as a criminal defense attorney, he provided a new perspective on cases. Trevor has qualities that most people don't have, and his natural courtroom abilities are a pleasure to watch. Trevor's first jury trial (along with co-counsel) as a criminal defense attorney was a murder trial..........Not guilty! I will continue to learn from Trevor, as his wealth of knowledge is second to none."
