OUTCOME: Not Guilty

Client was charged with violating two Greenville city ordinances: Public Intoxication and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The prosecutor indicated that he would not make any plea offer. After the ... judge granted a dismissal of the Public Intoxication charge on constitutional grounds, Melissa Inchauste proceeded to trial on the possession charge with the theory that the client did not knowingly possess marijuana because he was wearing a pair of pants borrowed from a friend. The jury promptly returned a verdict of Not Guilty.
