Julie A. Gafkay practices law throughout the state of Michigan and is located centrally in Saginaw County, Michigan. She has practiced as an attorney in Michigan since 1995. Although the main focus of her practice is employment discrimination law, she also focuses on personal injury. Attorney Gafkay has won several high-profile cases for her clients. In 2013, she represented the plaintiffs in an action against a large hospital in Flint who granted a patient's request for care based on race. The case received national attention. Since 2013, Attorney Gafkay has represented numerous clients who have been the victim of discrimination in the workplace based on a patient's or customer's request for White only employees. Attorney Gafkay is extremely passionate about seeing this type of discriminatory practice eliminated in our country and has represented clients outside of Michigan, including Oklahoma, in this type of case.
In a 2009 case, Ms. Gafkay represented a client whose fractured leg resulted from an auto accident caused by a negligent driver. The defendant's insurance company offered a settlement of $100,000, which Ms. Gafkay and the plaintiff promptly rejected. She fought tenaciously for her client and won a more suitable judgment of $750,000 for the plaintiff.
She has served as President of the Saginaw County Bar Association and Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. Her years of experience and dedication to righting the wrongs of discrimination, which include seven years as an associate with a Flint law firm, are testament to her total commitment to her clients.
Ms. Gafkay is also highly involved in her community. She is a member of the Frankenmuth Morning Rotary Club and contributes heavily to that organization's charitable efforts. She completed her Bachelor of Arts at Michigan State University's James Madison College in 1992 and finished her Juris Doctor in 1996 at Whittier College in California.

Julie A. Gafkay your Civil Rights Attorney of Choice
I am grateful to have discovered Attorney Julie Gafkay to represent my Civil Rights Case. I learned of Attorney Gafkay while researching other Black healthcare professionals who had experienced what I call, “patient initiated - employer sponsored race bias.” The most prominent case that Julie has re...

Waste of time
I contacted this lawyer for a consultation in regards to a religious discrimination and wrongful termination charge against my former employer in June of 2016. I contacted Julies office and gave the secretary a rundown of my charges. She advised that I would first need to contact the EEOC and that th...
Thank you for your comments. I'm sorry that you are unhappy with me and my office. I would encourage you to continue the charge with the EEOC since legally you are required to exhaust your administrative remedies, i.e., allowing the EEOC to investigate. It's unfortunate that a misunderstanding in this regard led to a poor review instead of a phone call or email. I did not want you to drive for an appointment while the EEOC was still investigating. I offered to meet with you when the EEOC had concluded its investigation. I appreciate that you contacted my office and hope that the EEOC investigation provides you with a resolution to your legal matter.
"I endorse this lawyer. Julie is an aggressive advocate for her clients but is able to maintain a civil. professional relationship with opposing counsel. She works hard to obtain justice for her clients and has enjoyed much success in the courtroom as a result."
"Julie is an excellent attorney to whom I refer cases. I would not hesitate to hire Julie personally were I ever to need her services. I believe she is committed to her clients and her community. I heartily endorse this her."
