Client was charged with crime that if convicted, license would have been dispossessed by Court and DMV for more than 5 years. Client's goal was to avoid long-term license revocation in order to keep ho ... me, work, etc. Thorough analysis of evidence of most recent charge did not support litigation, so we explored alternative methods. Turns out that the Courts (plural) where prior convictions were made hadn't realized that paperwork submitted to the NYS DMV had not been filed correctly. After much communication and untangling, certified dispositions stating the necessary information were obtained and provided to the DMV. Some time later, DMV updated categorization of individual. Result was mitigated consequences; instead of 5 and half years of license revocation with additional 5 years of restricted license following, the license was revoked for only 6 months.
