Denis J. McCarthy

I hired Denis McCarthy to represent me in my divorce after reading reviews on the internet. This the was worst decision I have ever made. He gave very little, if any advice during my divorce proceedings. He pushed to have me and my ex wife go into mediation, where I don't think he ever opened his mou...th. He spent more time counting how many judges were in a photo on the wall instead of paying attention to what was being said. he even at one point got up from his seat to retrieve the picture for inspection. On the Friday evening prior to my Monday morning court date he sent me an email that stated he could no longer represent me. Then he showed up to court on Monday and tried to get the judge to let him out of being counsel. This attorney is a real piece of work. He cost me thousands and I would not recommend him to anyone. I will be filing a document with the Michigan State Bar about his actions. I would highly recommend not getting involved with this individual. I also thought it was pretty pathetic how another attorney from his office contacted me to defend his actions after I emailed him to inform him I was filing with the State Bar. He stated how boring that the mediations can become. I feel that if you find your profession boring, you should find another job and costing your clients money for unacceptable behavior.

Attorney McCarthy was introduced to me by my brother in law, i not only consider him my attorney, but a friend as well. He is a shark in the court room and does not pull any punches with his clients. ...He has helped me by winning 5 embezzlement charges i was accused of, took my case, believed in me and kicked Oakland County Prosecutor Pernicks butt, they had no evidence and Attorney McCarthy left him kicking in the sand, and taking his ball home crying. He has represented my family members on different offenses and won, and is now representing me in my divorce and i have every bit of faith in him to get me all i deserve. He is my go to Attorney as i said and he has never turned me away, he is smart, and listens until he understands every aspect of your case. I was falsely set up with five felony counts of embezzlement by my former employee, instead of turning me away her... believed me, but the pieces together and kicked prosecutor Pernicks ass. He took his ball from his own court house and went home crying. Attorney McCarthy will not only fight for you he WINS! He is representing me now in what will be an ugly divorce, once I put it in Denis's hands I have no worries. My family has used him, I don't consider him my Attorney as my attorney but as a friend. He has a dry sense of humor, will never lie to you and keep you posted through out the whole process. I was lucky enough that he was a friend of my brother in law, but to also be proud to recommend him for any type of attorney you may need

First impressions are very important when contacting an attorney. Upon my initial call, I was impressed by the responsiveness and assistance provided by Denis' office staff member, Darcy. She was certain to obtain the necessary information regarding my case and ensured that I was able to speak and ...meet with Denis in a timely fashion. She made me feel like my case was as important to her as it was to me. My initial meeting with Denis was via telephone. He listened intently to all the facts around my child custodial/domicile case. He ensured that he had a clear understanding of my objectives regarding my court matter. He provided his feedback around potential approach, court process, expectations and next steps. My next meeting with Denis was in his office. The meeting began at the scheduled time. As we continued to discuss the case, he provided additional feedback and opinions as to the most likely outcome. He explained next steps as it related to documents that needed to be filed, appearance in court, etc. I felt his courtroom skills were superb. It was apparent that he had a clear understanding of the law around child custody/domicile cases. I felt that his questioning of all parties was relevant, fair and oriented toward achieving my objective. He then explained how long the decision would take, potential next steps related to the decision, etc. The court's decision was in our favor; however, even if it were not, I would still provide the same rating as above.
