I have been entrusted by clients with countless legal matters over the years and always welcome inquiries from prospective clients regarding the initiation of new legal matters or the transfer of responsibility of ongoing matters. I am happy to work with clients who have never had IP legal representation in the past. I have been practicing law for a number of years and in that time have become highly focused on handling patent and trademark matters for clients. I became a USPTO registered patent agent even before becoming a licensed attorney. While in law school, I gained valuable experience with IP law while clerking at a small firm that specializes in filing and prosecuting patents on behalf of . law firms and corporations. Later, I worked in Grand Rapids, Michigan under a formerly solo-practicing IP attorney. Subsequently, I had the opportunity to work at a large IP firm in the Detroit-metro area. The diversity of these experiences allowed me to experiment with different approaches to managing attorney-client relationships. As such, I believe that I have found an approach that provides outstanding attention to client matters while maximizing client resources. 

With undergraduate and master degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in Computer Engineering and Information Technology, I specialize in working with high tech companies seeking patents to protect their innovative engineering inventions and developments. Prior to law school, I worked for a number of years as an information technology consultant with a focus on Java programming, database development, and web development. I also have considerable experience with telecommunication networking infrastructure. With this background, I particularly enjoy helping existing companies, start-ups, and individuals protect innovations related to telecommunications, networking, mobile technologies, software, controls & embedded systems. However, my experience is not limited to computer-related technologies. Naturally as an IP attorney based in the Detroit-metro area, I have considerable experience with client work for automotive companies and suppliers on matters related to both electrical controls and physical/mechanical components.

I live in the Metro-Detroit suburb of Novi, Michigan with my wife and two young children. When I am not practicing law I enjoy family time, cooking, and all manner of outdoors activities. I also closely follow and participate in local and state government politics and activities.
