Mother appealed from a Juvenile Court deprivation order granting temporary custody to the Father, Mr. Keaton's client. This case set a new precedent. The old rule held that parent vs. parent depr ... ivation was to be considered a custody fight and not a valid deprivation action, therefore Superior Court had jurisdiction over those cases, not Juvenile Court. The Court of Appeals upheld the Juvenile Court ruling and agreed with Mr. Keaton's argument that parent vs. parent deprivation cases should not be summarily dismissed but should be evaluated as to the validity of the allegations.
