I have focused my practice on real estate issues. My two primary areas of expertise are title insurance matters and landlord-tenant disputes. As part of my title insurance practice, I have handled a variety of disputes, including quiet title actions, boundary disputes, forged deeds, priority disputes among lenders and incorrect legal descriptions. I have litigated issues in both state and federal courts, including the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Michigan Court of Appeals. My landlord-tenant practice includes both residential and commercial matters in a variety of jurisdictions throughout southeast Michigan. Some of the issues I have tackled include lease disputes, nonpayment of rent, health hazards and physical injury to property, use of medical marijuana and accommodation requests for emotional support animals.
Other real estate matters that I have worked on include condominium issues, construction lien disputes, residential home closings and defective construction issues. I also handle general business litigation, including contract litigation, shareholder disputes and large-scale collection actions.
I am honored to serve on the National Apartment Association's Legislative Committee, where I chaired the workgroup on Emotional Support Animals, as well as the Michigan Land Title Association's Legislative Committee and the Detroit Metropolitan Apartment Association's Legislative Committee (where I have served as Chairperson since the inception of the DMAA in 2002).
I am committed to addressing my clients' legal concerns in a timely and cost-effective fashion.
