Biography
Attorney José R. Fanego has been practicing law for 30 years, with the last 26 focused exclusively on criminal defense. After earning his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School in 1989, he spent four years as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney at the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office. In 1993, he was admitted to federal practice and founded his own law firm in Oakland County.
Attorney Fanego utilizes his experience on both sides of the courtroom to give him an edge when strategizing for each case. He handles a range of cases from traffic tickets to first-degree murder. Mr. Fanego actively participates in various law associations. He has been the chairman of the Oakland County Bar Association since 2014 and is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the State Bar of Michigan, the Federal Defender Panel, and the WSU Moot Court Program.

Drug possession
Jose was my lawyer, and he helped keep me from getting kicked out of school. He got one of my charges completely erased, and on the other one he negotiated to get it dropped to a lesser crime. He saved my life!
