I ended up hiring Debra after learning that my ex-husband planned to turn what should have been a simple divorce case into a nasty trial. From the very beginning, Debra was calm and calculated. I hired Debra to protect myself and my children during a very scary and emotional time in my life; filing for divorce. I thought as my attorney she would look out for my families best interest and that was not the case. Debra only cares about collecting from a divorce. She racked up astronomical fees..., totaling nearly 70k for an eight -month divorce without any trials, and I did not ask for or get anything that I wasn't already legally entitled to. She slipped in a judgment against me within my judgment of divorce that forced me to pay her an amount I never agreed too. Please read her contract, it is not in your favor. Demand a monthly bill and question everything as once the 30-day billing period is up you are stuck with the bill according to the contract. Please read every paragraph of your judgment before you sign it or you too may be surprised to find out she has a judgment against you within your own judgment of divorce. I had pleaded with her to please reduce the fees because it would be financially detrimental to mine and my children's future and she said she didn't care; Debra just she wants her money. I've had several attorney's review what happened and all of them felt this was grossly unethical, and that "a trained monkey straight out of law school could've handled this case for $5k". I feel I was taken advantage of by my own attorney during a time that I trusted her to protect me. Debra will take her own clients to court. Sitting down in that chair and signing that contact was the worse thing I've done.
