Emory D. Moore, Jr. is an associate with the Labor & Employment Practice Group in Clark Hill's Detroit Office. Emory's practice focuses on counseling employers on a broad range of employment-related issues and representing employers in litigation before state courts, federal courts, and administrative agencies. Emory has significant experience representing employers in class and collective action litigation of claims of employment discrimination and wage & hour disputes. Emory also assists employers with drafting, enforcing, and defending against restrictive covenants. Additionally, Emory has significant experience representing a broad range of public and private entities in general commercial litigation matters before state and federal courts.
Emory attended Michigan State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Finance. Emory obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, where he was awarded the Dean's Service Award, the Equal Justice Works Award, and an Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy. Emory was also awarded the Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution Award for his extensive focus on and demonstrated ability in the collaborative resolution of disputes outside of court.
During law school, Emory worked at the EEOC, assisting administrative law judges with all aspects of the adjudication of charges of employment discrimination. During law school, Emory was also a legal intern in the Office of the General Counsel for a multinational Fortune 200 company, served as a volunteer mediator with the Better Business Bureau, taught an Alternative Dispute Resolution course at a local high school, and served as chapter president of the Black Law Students Association.
A dedicated supporter of youth organizations and collaborative entrepreneurship, Emory maintains an active role in the community. Emory is an active supporter of and participant in the outreach initiatives of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, including its Law Day initiative where Emory teaches local high school students oral advocacy skills. Additionally, Emory devotes a great deal of his time to helping entrepreneurs and small business owners navigate through the process of business conception, development, and protection.
