This friendly and diligent lawyer brought a real estate transfer tax issue with the state of Michigan to our attention through a letter in the mail in December of 2016. He and his firm informed us that we may be entitled to a refund due to a Supreme Court ruling involving a property we sold in 2012. ...I looked into the issue and saw that we may qualify, so we contacted him to pursue it and he filled us in on the procedure and applicable fees. There was no cost to us if we did not meet the criteria, and if we did meet the requirements from the state ruling, then their fee would be a percentage of the refund, so we had NO out of pocket cost. Everything sounded reasonable and he immediately began working with us via email to help us find and send the proper paperwork to the state. He was efficient and everything was completed in a timely manner. He informed us that it might take 10-12 weeks for the state to refund the money if we qualified and it was exactly in this time frame that a refund check showed up in our mailbox! What a great surprise! Without his knowledge and correspondence, we would have never known that we were entitled to such a refund and I can't thank him and his firm enough!
