Worst experience ever...

Arrived at our appointment with this attorney 15 minutes early to a receptionist that was as rude as I have ever ever experienced! Told us the attorney was not there & would not be there for several hours. (She knew this in advance & never called us to reschedule.) When I asked her why she didn’t c...all us to let us know he couldn’t be there, she got mad & snotty & said “because I was at lunch!” She did say we could talk to him on the phone!!???? Never met the man & our first appointment was by phone from HIS office!!? The complete rude, snotty and totally UNPROFESSIONALISM we experienced was the worst I have ever had. My hope is that this review can save even 1 person from going through what we did !!

Hi Anonymous, As I stated over the telephone I apologize for not being able to see you in person as I was having transportation problems that resulted in me not being able to be physically in my office at the time of your appointment. I did offer to discuss your legal matter with you over the telephone but you declined. The reason Sarah could not call you in advance to advise you of my situation was that my office like many of the offices in downtown Monroe experienced a power outage on Monday morning resulting in us not being able to use our telephones and Sarah left her cellular telephone at home and therefore had no way to reach you.”

Rude and unprofessional!!!

I showed up for my scheduled appointment 10 minutes early, signed in and took a seat in the waiting area. Sarah, the receptionist informed me that Mr. Osment wasn't going to come to the appointment. I asked if I could wait and she responded by snapping at me and telling me it could be hours. I then a...sked why no one called me to reschedule because they knew hours in advance that he wouldn't be there and her response was "I was at lunch." She was incredibly rude and unprofessional in every way as she spoke to me throughout my visit. I spoke with him over the phone and he offered to do a conference call. I reluctantly agreed and his receptionist got out of her chair and very rudely said "now I have to move all my other clients" as if it was my fault that he stood me up for my appointment. At that time I decided I had had enough and left. I was shocked at the disrespect and rudeness I encountered from this business. I do NOT recommend them!

Beware — do your own homework first

Mr. Osment successfully represented our family in creating a lady bird deed and witnessing it prior to our father’s passing last year. He was fully paid up front for that service. During discussion afterwards, he offered his services with the transfer of the deed at time of our sale of the family far...m. When it came time for the closing, I contacted him and he had me put down $750. I did not, however, fill out the paperwork he sent me to sign. The very same day, I found out from our real estate agent and the title agency that this really was unnecessary because everything was quite cut and dry and the title company showed everything in good order and they would handle the recording of the deed. Tried to talk with Mr. Osment that day and for several days thereafter to get our $750 back and he gave every possible explanation he could think of as to why we needed to use him, sometimes being deliberately wordy and complicated in his speech and employing scare tactics and providing very questionable “proof” of problems in an effort to make it seem like we would be crazy to not use him. Finally I’d had enough. I told him he wouldn’t use him because I didn’t trust him after what he had been trying to do, and I asked him to return the $750. He pretty much said no, more or less, but never explicitly. Took him a couple of paragraphs questioning my realtor’s actions as illegal (and apparently the title company?), and that I had led him to believe we would use his services so it was within his terms of service to keep it. Before I finished reading I was fed up. I told him I was disappointed because he was a small business person and it was entirely in his power to refund the money he had for less than one day, which by the way he only received because I made the mistake of not doing my homework first. Hopefully anyone who is planning to use him reads this first, because he’s not a nice or honorable businessperson to work with.

Limited knowledge of law

In my experience, Mr. Osment has limited knowledge of the Bankruptcy Court system outside of the standard basic filings. His inexperience with any court issues that are not standard procedure in the process, led to substantial errors in reporting my case to the court. This resulted in significant un...recoverable expense to me. Even when the Bankruptcy Lawyer from the court informed me that the incorrect information he submitted was the cause of the $26,000 negative judgement against me, he refused to take responsibility and correct the record. You hire a lawyer to act on your behalf, expecting them to be able to provide a service which you are not able to provide for yourself. Bankruptcy is a difficult situation for all parties involved and having to suffer due to incompetent representation was unimaginable.
