Disappointing communication and a total lack of follow-through.

Today's Date: October 10, 2027 Disappointing communication and a total lack of follow-through. I previously used Khamo Law, PLLC in April 2024 for a civil rights matter involving a demand letter, so I expected a baseline level of professionalism when reaching out to them again as a returning clie...nt. Unfortunately, that was not the case with Brandon McNeal and the firm. • First Attempt: On January 22, 2026, I emailed the owner, Mr. Khamo, requesting a call regarding a potential new case that I had already discussed with Brandon.Brandon indicated his retainer is $1500. I received no response from the owner Mr khamo. • Second Attempt: On Friday, September 18, 2026, I called and left a message with Carmen to secure representation for a new matter. I immediately followed up with an email to Brandon McNeal at 4:03 PM that same day, explicitly stating that I needed counsel, had the retainer funds ready, and wanted to schedule an initial consultation. Once again, I received absolutely no response. He misled me indicated back in January if I received the funds for the retainer, to reach back out. For a lawyer and a firm that publicly brands itself around advocacy, civil rights, and fighting police misconduct, it is incredibly disappointing to be completely ignored. This lack of responsiveness makes it very difficult to believe that they truly care about the Black community or the systemic fights they claim to champion. Even if an attorney lacks the capacity or interest to take on a new case, basic professional courtesy dictates a brief response rather than completely ghosting a returning client. If you want an attorney or firm that actually follows through on their branding, look elsewhere.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
