Melissa A. Schwartz

Attorney Schwartz is a General Civil Mediator and member of the State Bar of Michigan, Federal Bar Association, American Trial Lawyer's Association, and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.  She is the recipient of many academic and service awards, including the Spirit of Detroit award.

Before earning her Juris Doctor degree, Ms. Schwartz earned a paralegal degree with honors.  She has many years of experience in plaintiff and defense litigation; and held the position of Wayne County Legal Department's Crime Victim Advocate with the City of Detroit Police Department Investigative Officer's Unit.

Ms. Schwartz earned her undergraduate degree in Family Law Education at the Spring Arbor University with honors.  She received her law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where she was elected and served as class President; served as a law clerk intern to Chief Judge Bernard A. Friedman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan; and was a legal intern for the Wayne County Legal Aid & Public Defender's Office where she represented the interests of indigent defendants.

Prior to earning her doctoral degree in law, Attorney Schwartz graduated in the medical field with honors.  Her medical knowledge combined with her legal education has played a key role in the settlement of six-figure dog bite and product liability awards.
