Client mistakenly conveyed a joint tenancy interest in his residence to his lifelong girlfriend via a deed. When client's girlfriend passed, client personally paid for a funeral and wake in her honor. ... The girlfriend's niece was appointed as personal representative of the estate. The nice then claimed a 50% interest in client's residence and denied client reimbursement from the estate for the funeral and wake expenses he had paid. District Court ruled in client's favor and niece appealed. The Nevada Court of Appeals affirmed the District Court's ruling in client's favor.
