I dont know why people are saying shes good. SHE IS HORRIBLE! i had her for a child custody case and heres my story with this horrible attorney!!!!! Over the past two years she managed to get my case completely thrown out for reasons still unknown to me as i have asked her about it with no answer ...from at all. she failed to tell me about an important courtdate January 14th 2013 and when I asked about it she lied and said "oh well i needed that paper from you" ...a paper I already faxed to her office. (i have the proof that I faxed it less than a week after she asked for it. she used that as an excuse that i wasnt at the court date in January but thats not an excuse for not notifying me of a court date that got my whole motion dismissed. when i asked her about what to do about the motion she said there was nothing we could do about it now that it was dismissed and we would have to refile after my ex motion was heard....but When i talked to the judge at trial she said that it should have been mentioned to her as soon as possible and she would have re-instated it. she payed no attention to my case at all and went to court unprepared or didn’t show up at all. I gave her information to work with and she didnt utilize it. I literally made an entire binder and organized everything FOR HER and she glimpsed at it for a second. The binder was so good that it pretty much had the entire case a hands-down win with evidence for every point i was making...but they were points she never brought up in court, not once. When she didn’t show up to court dates she would send her father and all he did was he rambled on about things he didnt even know about and knew nothing about the case at all. she didnt show up for the first trial until last minute and then the second one...not at all. She didnt prepare with me before we saw the judge to get new information either. she showed up and without even talking to me and went in front of the judge. That is not what a GOOD attorney is supposed to do. I told her in the beginning of all of this that this was the most important thing to me because it was my kids lives..and NOW...my ex has full control over my 13 year old daughters medical and will have her on adderol and ritalin and whatever else she can get to "control" her and make her nothing more than a zombie...and theres nothing i can do about it thanks to CAROLYN. SHE takes on way to many cases and can not pay attention fully to any of them and thats not what a good attorney does. All she cares about is the money and getting as many cases as she can get. she shouldnt be doing family law because your messing with families and children. I wish I would have listened to the other attorneys I spoke with who all told me that she just tries to get as many cases as she can and that shes only good for small matters...not big ones and not cases that involve divorce and children. She might be cheap but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR and your paying for absolutely NOTHING when you hire her. I even did all the work for her and prepared evidence and organized it all in a binder for her to ignore it and not even use it!!!

I hired her for a divorce and subsequent post judgment custody issues. I paid her $12,000 over the course of 2 years and have absolutely nothing to show for it. At first I thought she was simply too busy to provide quality representation, but as time went on I saw more hints of her incompetence and ...dishonesty. She would never give me receipts or provide me with copies of documents she had filed, despite multiple requests. I paid her by the motion for several different actions. When she failed to file a response for me and there was no hearing on a motion I paid her for, she refused to return my money and tried to tell me about her hourly rate. In the end, I'm worse off after having hired Ms. Markowitz. I highly recommend against anyone doing the same.
