I hired Mr. Hemming to handle my divorce case on 4/16 and let him go on 5/8 of the following month. In that short time, he believes he did $8,000 worth of work, when 2-3 days of each week out of the three weeks he was my lawyer he was out of town. First, my husband filed not one, but two ex parte... motions that Mr. Hemming did NOT file responses to, even after I gave him my answers and specifically asked him if we needed to answer each point of the motions filed by my husband. I had already researched divorce procedures and knew this to be untrue. Mr. Hemming made other crucial mistakes in my case and I knew I had to seek new council immediately. I sent Mr. Hemming communication that he was no longer my legal representation, that I had retained another attorney, and he confirmed that he understood. This was 5/8, I did NOT receive a bill until 6/9, where not only did I find his OUTRAGEOUS charges, but he continued to charge me AFTER I told him I no longer wanted him as my lawyer and that I had hired someone else.
