Dealing with the IRS or the State of Michigan on your own with regard to a tax issue can be overwhelming.   Most people are unaware of their rights and how to deal with these types problems correctly.  Since 1994, I have personally represented and counseled hundreds of clients throughout the State of Michigan and the United States in both civil and criminal tax controversies.

My goal has always been to provide my client with the highest level of representation, educate them about their options, and, to find a workable resolution to their problem.

One of our specialties is in the area of international tax controversies.  In this practice, we represent  Offshore Financial Account disclosures (i.e., OVDP, Streamlined, Transitional and opt-outs) and in Bank Secrecy Act violations.  We also routinely advise clients on the U.S. tax aspects of receiving foreign gifts and inheritances and handle international tax compliance and planning for corporations and individuals. 

My educational background includes obtaining a Masters of Law in Taxation (LL.M.) from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., a Juris Doctor (J.D.), Cum Laude, from the Michigan State University College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, with Honor, from Michigan State University.   

I am a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society and the Phi Kappa Phi Academic Honor Society. Further, I am a member of the Taxation Section of the American Bar Association and Michigan Bar Association, where I served as a past Chairperson of the Tax Practice and Procedure Committee.  In 2014, I was honored to be named a “Top Lawyer” by Detroit’s dbusiness magazine.  

I have appeared on the Frank Beckman Show, Fox News, and has been quoted in The Motley Fool, Detroit News, Detroit Free Press, Crain’s Business, and dBusiness magazine. Over the years, I have authored numerous articles for various professional journals and blog regularly on tax topics.   I routinely speak on various tax topics and was recently the keynote speaker on the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) at a conference held at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, China.
