Emily Kathryn Catania

Emily K. Catania is a partner in the Birmingham, Michigan office of Morganroth & Morganroth, where she represents individuals and businesses in complex and often high-stakes matters. Her practice spans commercial litigation, family law, business disputes, civil litigation, white collar defense, and appellate work.

Emily approaches her work with a practical, client-focused mindset. She understands that legal issues are rarely just legal—they are personal, financial, and often stressful. Whether guiding a client through a business dispute or a family matter, she prioritizes clear communication, thoughtful strategy, and efficient resolution while remaining prepared to advocate aggressively when needed.

She is admitted to practice in Michigan and New York, as well as before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Emily has been recognized as a Super Lawyer since 2021 and was selected as an Associate Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society. She is also a State Court Administrative Office Certified Domestic Mediator, bringing a problem-solving perspective to contentious disputes.

Emily’s path to the law has been anything but conventional. A graduate of Cranbrook Kingswood, she went on to earn her degree with honors from New York University, combining studies in music business, performance, and business strategy. She later earned her Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law, where she was recognized for her service and contributions to the law school community.

Before fully transitioning into legal practice, Emily gained valuable experience in New York City working in a fast-paced corporate environment, where she managed creative teams and negotiated contracts on large-scale projects. That early exposure to business operations continues to inform her legal work today, particularly when advising clients on risk, strategy, and decision-making.

She later built her litigation foundation in New York, handling a demanding caseload and developing strong courtroom skills early in her career. Her experience also includes serving as in-house trial counsel for a major insurance company, giving her insight into how large organizations evaluate and defend claims—an advantage she brings to her clients.

Emily’s practice is defined by versatility, sound judgment, and a steady presence in challenging situations. She is known for being approachable yet direct, strategic yet pragmatic, and committed to helping her clients move forward with confidence.
