My client had a financial power of attorney over his father; who was in a nursing home. The father passed away with an outstanding balance of $72,000 to the nursing home. Based on very general statemen ... ts made by the son, the nursing home made four claims against my client, that the he was personally responsible for the debt. I was able to successfully argue for the dismissal of 3 of the claims. We were able to settle the fourth claim for $8000.00.
