OUTCOME: Landlord paid several thousand in damages.

A tenant came into my office claiming that her landlord had wrongfully evicted her by removing her family and possessions from her apartment in the middle of winter. The landlord was suing her for poss ... ession of the apartment as well as $2,100. In the end we settled with the landlord to pay us thousands in damages based on violations of Illinois statutes. This was a pro bono case where the landlord was forced to pay for his unlawful eviction.

OUTCOME: Client had his car returned

Client had his car seized for allegedly driving while drunk and fleeing from the police. Before trial the prosecutor explained to me that there would be no deal since this case was "as open and shut as ... it gets." Over the course of the trial I was able to prove the State could not show my client was actually driving the car and his vehicle was returned. These cases are judged by a preponderance of the evidence, meaning that the State only needed to overcome a 51% burden of proof in order to win.

In this case I represented the landlord who claimed that his tenant owed thousands in back rent. Tenant was successfully evicted.
