The plaintiff purchased a new 2016 Ram 1500 that came with a warranty from the manufacturer. The vehicle had an excessive vibration but the manufacturer and its authorized dealerships were never able t ... o fix the vibration. When the vehicle was at the dealership they told the plaintiff that they needed a vibration analyzer in order to diagnose the vibration and would call him when it arrived. They never called him and the plaintiff filed a lawsuit. But, the manufacturer's internal records showed that the dealership did get a vibration analyzer at one point in time, but the manufacturer instructed the dealership not to use it. The jury found that the manufacturer committed a deceptive act and awarded the plaintiff $10,000.

A dealership sold a consumer a car "as is" without disclosing that it had pre-existing transmission problems caused by a loss of communication between the car's computer and the transmission. A But ... ler County jury found that the dealership committed an unfair and deceptive act in violations of the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act and committed fraud. The jury awarded the consumer $22,655.99 in damages, which could be tripled under the Consumer Act to $67,967.97, $5,000 for stress and frustration, and stated that the dealership should have to pay the attorney fees.

After 2 months of calling ... for the status of the estimate, the repair shop sent the consumer an invoice for almost $16,000.00 in repair work without ever having provided an estimate. A Franklin County jury found that the repair shop committed an unfair and deceptive act in violations of the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act. The jury awarded $7,352.00 in damages, which was tripled to $20,556.00 under the consumer act.
