Edwin Hill v. Application for Relief from Weapons Disability
Jul 15, 2016OUTCOME: Petition Granted
Mr. Hill, a Vietnam Veteran, was convicted of felony possession of narcotics in 1973. He completed his sentencing requirements without incident in 1976. Because of his felony conviction, he was unable ... to own or possess a firearm. In 2016, he wanted to buy a shotgun so he could go hunting with his grandchildren. We applied for Relief from Weapons Disability in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, and the matter went to hearing. At the hearing, Mr. Hill was cross examined by both the County Prosecutor and the Judge. In the end, Judge Barker was satisfied that Mr. Hill had demonstrated his worth, and she granted our petition.
