I represented the husband. He questioned why, when we were valuing the equity in his home, the outstanding balance was more than he thought it should be. Apparently the Wife had found someone to prepa ... re and notarize for her, a Power of Attorney, which Wife used to refinance the marital residence, taking $25k in equity in the refinance. I investigated his information, found out what happened, which the Wife denied, had the court issue an order for the original POA to be produced and had a forensic handwriting expert to give an expert opinion on the validity of the POA. It turned out to be a forgery of the husband's signature. I recovered for my client the equity Wife defrauded him out of before the case was over.
