OUTCOME: Dismissed without prejudice
The government had a video evidence, but I got the case dismissed without prejudice at the preliminary state, thanks to my cross examination of witnesses, and my persuasive argument. The result is rema ... rkable considering that it was a felony theft case, and only at the preliminary hearing state, and the judge was known for his no-nonsense approaches. And I was not even a licensed lawyer yet. I was only certified legal intern.
OUTCOME: Successful (survived motion to dismiss)
I got involved in a civil rights case involving a prisoner. He claimed violations of his 8th Amendment rights based on the prison condition. Thanks to my motion in support of opposition to motion to di ... smiss, the case survived the stage.
OUTCOME: Successful (not deported)
I was part of a team that represented two clients who faced deportation. It was a fact-driven case, rather than law, and I wrote the entire personal fact part of the brief. The fact that I used to be a ... newspaper reporter who wrote a lot of feature stories helped a lot. We ended up getting the positive result for our clients.
