My experience with attorney Ashley Colborn and her office was difficult and, at times, extremely stressful. During my divorce and custody proceedings, I was self-represented for part of the case and felt significant pressure regarding proposed parenting schedule changes. I was told that the change...s were related to the children’s appointments and therapy needs. After later reviewing the records myself, I came away with a different understanding of the frequency of those appointments and questioned whether such a significant schedule change was necessary. I was also concerned by discussions regarding potential financial obligations that ultimately were not part of the final mediated agreement. While I understand that attorneys are obligated to advocate for their clients, my experience left me feeling intimidated rather than encouraged to work toward a cooperative resolution. I also felt caught off guard by the scope of the issues being raised. Going into discussions, I believed we were working toward a mutual resolution of specific matters. Instead, additional proposals and concerns were presented that I had not anticipated. As a self-represented party at the time, I found the volume and nature of those communications overwhelming and difficult to navigate. In addition, I found communication from the office to be disorganized and, at times, unprofessional. I received multiple copies of forms and documents that I found confusing, and there were instances where I received calls very early in the morning while I was traveling in California. These issues added unnecessary stress during an already challenging family law matter. To be fair, mediation ultimately resolved many of the disputed issues, and the final outcome differed substantially from what I had feared earlier in the process. However, based on my personal experience, I did not feel that the approach taken by attorney Ashley Colborn and her office promoted transparency, professionalism, or reduced conflict during the process. This review reflects my personal experience and opinions regarding the representation and communications I encountered during my case.
