The Supreme Court of Kentucky's decision from 2013 in a contested adoption. This case received national publicity. This was an unpopular case with the public, based upon the emotional vernacular of t ... he word "adoption", and highly-complex legal issues that, simply put, involved an attorney who combined different parts of the adoption and termination statutes and gave faulty legal advice. Ultimately, the adoption was not granted, but legal custody went to the prospective adoptive parents, and a parenting schedule was arranged between the parties and the child. This case is still cited today for the legal premise of waiver by the natural parent and giving up a parent's superior right to a child.
