Rhinehart v. Scutt, 894 F.3d 721 (6th Cir. 2018)
Jun 28, 2018OUTCOME: Sixth Circuit affirmed summary judgment in favor of our clients.
Family of inmate with hepatitis C sued several prison doctors over alleged medical care deficiencies. District court initially found questions of fact precluding summary judgment. However, after we suc ... cessfully sought leave to file a second summary judgment motion, the district court dismissed all claims against our clients. On appeal, the Plaintiffs argued the district court made several errors. In a published decision the Sixth Circuit rejected the plaintiffs arguments and found that the Eighth Amendment was not violated regarding the prisoner's treatment for end-stage liver disease.
