OUTCOME: We convinced the Government not to pursue subsequent federal prosecution

The Department of Homeland Security, Investigations (HSI) arrested our client for a violation of conditions of supervised release, for unlawfully re-entering the United States. Our client was deported ... due to a prior federal conviction. We successfully mitigated the revocation of our client’s supervised release, while we concurrently convinced the Government not to pursue an indictment for unlawful re-entry; as a result, our client was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment, in lieu of facing a possible five years consecutive term of imprisonment.

OUTCOME: Our client faced potential Life imprisonment; however, we were able to obtain a sentence of 64 months imprisonment.

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigated our client related to the discovery of an alleged improvised explosive device located in the washroom of a Social Security office bu ... ilding, within the downtown area of a major U.S. city. Our client was indicted on multiple federal charges, and faced consecutive punishment related to a concurrent state prosecution. Practically, our client faced possible Life imprisonment; however, we were able to fully mitigate the federal sentence, and convince the Government to recommend that the state case be fully dismissed. As a result of plea negotiation, the state case was dismissed, and our client was sentenced to only five years imprisonment.

Our client was identified, and investigated, as the alleged logistical mastermind of an extensive international drug trafficking organization; our client's involvement exposed him/her to severe crimin ... al liability.
