Defendant charged with Assault 2 Strangulation charge. Went to trial where jury returned a 10-2 favorable outcome for client. Judge declared mistrial after hung jury.
OUTCOME: Case Dismissed
Client charged with Disorderly Conduct in charge that was questionable on its merits with a statute that was arguably void for vagueness. Leveraged lack of criminal history and weak case to obtain quic ... k dismissal for some community service hours that was preferential to the client and their desire to resolve the case sooner.
OUTCOME: Not Guilty
"DUI Refusal" charge taken to trial. Due to strong evidence for the defense refuting the allegations, a jury returned a "Not Guilty" verdict.
OUTCOME: Case Dismissed
Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree case. Defendant was charged with the stated crime for a computer he bought from someone off of Craigslist. The police report was void of any information that wo ... uld show the defendant knew that the computer was stolen. Stressed this in negotiations with City.
OUTCOME: Amended to Traffic Infraction
Reckless Driving case. There were major issues regarding the identity of the driver, as police never stopped the person that was driving the vehicle. Client was charged based off of his name being link ... ed to the vehicle from a previous work relationship. Attacked identification issues and client accepted an amendment to a traffic infraction versus going forward to trial.
OUTCOME: Guilty of charge but name cleared from warrants
Driving While License Suspended 3rd Degree case. Client plead guilty to the charge. However, this case was important because the client's name had gotten tied to another person who had picked up severa ... l warrants. This impacted the client, as their name was attributed as an alias to the person actually picking up the warrants. I assisted her with acquiring individual booking ID numbers, photos, and the assistance of a court clerk to effectively untie these names thus removing these warrants as attributable to my client.
OUTCOME: Case Dismissed
Animal Cruelty 2nd Degree case. Client was charged as a result of an officer's perceived condition of a dog that was secured in her back yard when this officer illegally entered her property. A motion ... to suppress and dismiss was filed that the City could not effectively rebut. City had to foot $4,000+ bill at an animal shelter.
OUTCOME: Case Dismissed
Assault 4 case (non DV). Investigation as to various witnesses present at the time of the alleged assault, coupled with statements made by alleged victim, led to the discovery that the alleged victim w ... as lying about the nature of the incident and supported a self-defense claim by the client. This was used as leverage in negotiations with the City.
OUTCOME: Case Dismissed
Assault 4 DV case. Thorough investigation and alleged victim interview led to shedding light on inconsistencies in the alleged victim's version of events. When alleged victim was caught in a number of ... lies regarding incident, including the alleged assault itself, I used this as leverage in negotiations with the City as the case was set for trial.
OUTCOME: Case Dismissed
Assault 4 DV case. Client had a viable self-defense claim. Secured statements from alleged victim corroborating client's version of events & validity of client's self-defense claim.
