No Problems with John

John was able to help me as a foreigner who married a US citizen. He guided the entire process and set up all the paperwork concerning how to obtain a permanent residence card. The whole process turned out to be very easy because of him and my husband and I had no problems at all.

Knowing what was going to happen before it happened

John did a really great job with my case. It was great knowing what was going to happen before it happened. They told me how long each process would take and when it would take place.

Unprofessional

If you are thinking about hiring this immigration law firm, think twice. They will treat you worse than in the Mexican Consulate. Jorge Portillo was handling my family's case, and was treated like a worthless customer. Do not spend your money with this people. It's not worth it.

Never Again.

Long post/rant but necessary.. I HIGHLY do not recommend this firm. When we chose this firm we chose it because of MICHELLE (she is no longer at this firm). She was one of three attorney we spoke with about our case. After the consultations we liked her best. Michelle left the firm during our pro...cess, this happens, the process took approximately 2 years. John then took our case on for Michelle. We had to reach out to John. He did not contact us about the change in representation. We would then have to continue to reach out to John for the reminder of our time being represented by this firm. When we spoke with John, he knew nothing about our case. He told us he "does not like taking on other people's work". He made us feel as if our case would not be approved and our evidence was insufficient. I understand some couples enter a green card process with less then enough but our evidence was solid. EVEN if it was not. We pay you hard earned dollars to represent us. When you present your clients information and you are BEING PAID by them, the least you can do if not treat them as if you do not care whether the case is accepted by the USCIS or not. I hated ever minute of being represented by John. I almost felt like I was on trail with him and he was the prosecution. ELIZABETH who is possibly a paralegal? She assisted with the case and I thank her for her kindness, answers and help. TO TOP IT OFF. Our case was accepted by the USCIS without interview so JOHN did not even have to show up and represent us and still got paid. Why was is accepted because the evidence was SOLID. No interview was even needed. Since the case has been accepted with still have not heard from John. WE called them, and I spoke with Elizabeth and informed her we received notice and the green card. OTHERWISE we still would not have heard from them TO THIS DAY. We probably could have done this whole things ourselves if I wasn't so anxious to get it right. So. Please. Seek different counsel.

Unprofessional Employees

Shame on one of the secretaries for being completely unprofessional when referring to immigrants (who, by the way, they serve as a business), as “paisas”, which is a short way to say “paisano”, but also a derogatory way to refer to immigrants who are not well educated, and undocumented. My husband a...nd I were in a small room waiting for an attorney to meet with us when we heard a conversation between the two secretaries that were in a bigger room close to the room we were at. One of them was talking about people from Mexico and she referred a few times as “paisas”. like she was eating chips or something because we heard her chewing, the noise of a chip’s bag and talk-eating. It is disgusting! If this is the way these people refer to us, the immigrants, I don’t want to have anything to do with this firm. No way!

".Our firm has had a longstanding referral relationship with Attorney Broyles, who has capably advised many of our criminal defense clients as to the immigration implications of their individual matters. John is truly an invaluable asset to the immigrant community, a group that is often vulnerable to others seeking wealth at the expense of a community lacking resources and means of reporting corruption. John Broyles, by contrast, has always been the voice of and advocate for the well-being of the Indianapolis immigrant community, and consistently treated his clients with respect, professionalism, and dedication to the resolution of their immigration issues. He is tirelessly committed to seeing that justice serves all and that his clients are informed about their rights, their legal options, and the avenues available to them in the resolution to their cases. One could not ask for a more thorough, ethical, and hard-working colleague than John Broyles."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
