I would strongly suggest you avoid using Colin Koons as your legal representation unless you prefer an attorney who will 1) Finally meet with you ONLY three days before your hearing despite calls to meet and prepare. 2) Not care about your personal circumstances 3) Not conduct pre-hearing ...discovery work 4) Not answer your calls. 5) Write the arguments for the hearing 30 minutes before the hearing starts 6) Lose paperwork causing you to be 15 minutes late to the hearing. 7) Use gas lighting techniques to convince you that you're actually the problem and not his terrible legal representation. This guy actually called me selfish when I attempted to point out the flawed income he submitted to the court. Please do your research when looking for an attorney. This review outlines my personal experience with Colin Koons as my paid legal representation in a family law matter.

First of all I have to say that I would normally not take the time to write a review for attorney services, however I was so very impressed with the job that was done by Colin Coons that I had to take the time to do it. My husband had some issues with custody and child support regarding my step-so...n and we decided that we should seek the help of an attorney rather than try and navigate a complicated legal system on our own. And although initially we were not thrilled to spend the money , looking back we can honestly say it was well worth the money. We had looked at several attorneys and right away the differences between them and Cox and Coons were very apparent. All of the other attorneys we spoke with wanted to charge us after talking with them for 3 minutes. How could you possibly get a feel for whether or not an attorney would make a good fit for you after speaking with them on the phone for 2-3 minutes? But that’s all the time they were willing to give us without charging us. When we first spoke with Colin Coons by phone, he answered all of our questions and also scheduled time for us to come in and have a face to face consultation, free of charge with no obligation for us to sign with the firm as a client. During the consultation he went in depth as to how he think the case should be handled, allowed us to ask any and all additional questions that we had, and made sure that everything was clarified before we left the meeting. Once we paid our retainer they started working on our case immediately filing all of the necessary motions, sending us the paperwork to fill out, as well as notifying the opposing party. In less than 3 months the case was resolved in our favor, although there was no guarantee that the case would be resolved in our favor. I attribute this to the knowledge and professionalism of the attorneys. They go above and beyond to ensure that their clients are taken care of and they don’t stop until they get the job done! Another thing that impressed me about Cox and Coons vs. other attorneys is that they emphasize mediation. In my opinion this is a very important attribute with a Family Law attorney. When dealing with family law issues of divorce, custody, and child support, it feels good to know that you have an attorney that believes in the process of mediation, and who will work with the other party to come to a satisfactory resolution without going through the agony of the normal adversarial type of process. This saves time and money for clients. I highly recommend the law offices of Cox and Coons for matters concerning family law and would not hesitate to avail myself of their services in the future should the need arise.

I came to Colin desperately seeking guidance on getting a divorce. My financial situation was less than ideal at the time, and I was fearful that I wouldn't be able to afford the counsel I would need in a divorce that involved custody. Once the process started Colin moved quickly as to not drag out the process. I was always informed & always had my emails & phone calls answered in a timely manner. Colin was patient, encouraging, and personable. It was comforting knowing I had someone on my side who understood & sympathized with the emotional difficulty of going through a divorce.
