Biography
Martha T. Starkey, "Marti," is a partner at Harrison & Moberly, LLP, where she serves as Chair of the Trust and Estate Practice Group. She has practiced in the area of Wills, Trusts, Estates, and Related Litigation for over 38 years and built her practice by providing excellent legal work in an atmosphere of care and concern for each client. Marti is the founder of the Starkey Entrepreneurial Woman Award, and she and her law firm give the award annually to a female business owner, who has exhibited courage, tenacity and selflessness in starting and running her own business. Marti was named "The Woman of the Year in Law" by the YWCA in 2010. She was also named one of the top 25 Women Super Lawyers that same year. Marti serves on the Joint Editorial Board/Uniform Trust and Estate Acts. She previously served on the drafting committee of the Uniform Power of Attorney Act and the Uniform Trust Code for the Uniform Law Commission. Marti serves as a Trustee for the Uniform Law Foundation and on the Board for the Wheeler Mission. She recently became the Secretary of the Uniform Law Commission in 2019. She was also named as the 2017 Distinguished Barrister by Indiana Lawyer. Marti recieved the Indianapolis Business Journal's Women of Influence Award in 2017. She has been selected several times for a "Five Star Professional Award" for best in client service by Indianapolis Monthly. Marti is the author of the book "The Blessing of Obedience," which was recently on the "Best Seller" list of IBJ Publishing. Marti is married; she and her husband have four children and eight precious grandchildren.
